TRIP OF A LIFETIME TO ISRAEL
Jerusalem Tours has offered many young adults the opportunity to have an Israeli Bar/Bat
Mitzvah experience. These trips are usually centered around touring with both
biblical and modern day relevance. Again, these trips are unique from person to
person or from group to group, but we show you an example itinerary of a past Jerusalem
Tours traveler.
DAILY TRIP ITINERARY:
Day 1 - Sun. - En Route
Depart the U.S. on your flight to Israel.
Day 2 - Mon. - Tel Aviv
Welcome to Israel!
Arrive Ben Gurion Airport. Meeting and assistance through customs and transfer to your Tel
Aviv hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure. This evening enjoy a welcome dinner at
our hotel. (D )

Day 3 - Tue. - Galilee
Continue along the Mediterranean coast to Megiddo,
explore its 23 layers of civilization. Onward to a scenic route that brings us to
beautiful Haifa. A city tour includes the Bahai Temple and Persian Gardens. From Haifa's
Mt. Carmel, enjoy the magnificent panoramic view. Continue to the medieval port of Akko to
visit this subterranean city of the Middle Ages. Next descend by cable car to explore the
beautiful underground grottos at Rosh Hanikra. Traveling through the Jezrael Valley (the
breadbasket of Israel) arrive at the picturesque city of Tiberius. Dive to our hotel at
Kibbutz, enjoy the hospitality of the "Kibbutzniks" and learn first-hand about
this unique way of life. Conclude the day with a Fish Dinner and overnight at the Kibbutz
on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. (B, D) |
Day 4 - Wed. - Galilee
Explore the Golan Heights, first visit the old
synagogue at Kapernaum and than stopping at its capital - Katzrin. Next visit the Upper
Galilee mountain city of Safed, the former center for Jewish Mysticism "Kabala".
In the evening board our boat for a "fun" cruise on the Sea of Galilee to
Tiberius, stroll the promenade or along the sea front. Dinner and overnight at our hotel
in the Kibbutz. (B, D) |
Day 5 - Thu. - Galilee to Dead Sea
Start by
going south through the Jordan Valley to visit Beit Shean, view the Roman Theater and
excavations, continue south to Ein Geddi oasis and the Dead Sea.
Continue to the shores of
the Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth, passing the salt mountains of Sedom.

"unsinkable" Dead Sea swim.

Day 6 - Fri. - Masada to Jerusalem
Visit the fortress mountain and hear
the tales of legendary courage that took place at Massada. Experience the magnificent
panorama of the Dead Sea landscape as we ascend by cable car to the summit.
In this most
awesome setting, we can imagine how the Jewish heroes felt, a lasting memory you will
always treasure. Explore the impressive archeological excavations. In the afternoon drive
up to Jerusalem, the Holy City, where upon entering the city we will stop for the
traditional blessing of Welcome over wine.
Your discovery of Jerusalem begins as we travel
through the surrounding mountains to Mt. Scopus. It is here you'll see the most
breathtaking panoramic view of the "Golden City" and the Judean Desert. This
evening welcome Shabbat at the Western Wall then enjoy a traditional Shabbat dinner at our
hotel Kings and overnight. (B, D) |
Day 7 - Sat. - Jerusalem
Spend a day of leisure in Jerusalem.
This morning
you may attend a synagogue service or Enjoy a late morning optional guided tour (at an
additional cost) of the Old City including the Christian Quarter, The Church of the Holy
Sepulchre and the picturesque "shuk" (Arab market).
At the ancient Citadel (King
David's Tower), the new Museum of the History of Jerusalem and Bethlehem. The afternoon is
at leisure to further explore on your own or relax. This evening dinner is not included
allowing you to experience the festive night life.
From our ideally located hotel walk to
the Ben Yehuda Midrechov, with its many restaurants, outdoor cafes, shops, crafts and

Day 8 - Sun. - Jerusalem
Drive via the campus
of Hebrew University to Hadassah Medical Center to admire its magnificent Chagall Windows.
On to Ammunition Hill, site of the heroic Six Day War battle which united the city of
Jerusalem.
Continue to the scale model of ancient Jerusalem from the time of the Second
Temple. Next visit a new JNF forest where everyone will have the opportunity to plant a
tree, leaving our mark for the future. Now experience the thrill of entering the Old City
at Zion Gate to explore the Jewish Quarters. Walk along the restored Cardo, main shopping
center of Byzantine times and stop at the ancient reconstructed Sephardic Synagogue.
Continue to the recently discovered ancient wall of Jerusalem from the time of King
Solomon. Now descend to the Western Wall and visit the famous Hasmonait Tunnels. On to our
hotel for a Bar/Bat Mitzvah Banquet dinner celebration and overnight. (B, D) |
Day 9 - Mon. - Jerusalem - Bar/Bat Mitzvah
Begin the day with a Bar
Mitzvah ceremony at the Wailing Wall, (should we have Bar Mitzvah candidates) this is a
very emotional experience for the "boys". Than participate in a very special
service at Yad Vashem, Israel's national memorial to the victims of the Holocaust.
Spend
time at the Museum and Children's Memorial, walk along the Street of the Righteous where
Oskar Schindler and many others are honored and visit the newly opened Valley of the
Destroyed Communities.
Continue to the giant Menorah outside the Knesset. Drive via the
impressive, new Supreme Court Building to the Israel Museum. After a tour of this
fascinating museum, see the dramatic Shrine of the Book housing the most incredible
archeological discovery the Dead Sea Scrolls. Explore the Museum's youth wing and the
Billy Rose Sculpture Garden.
Drive via Mea Shearim to our hotel in Tel Aviv. Tonight
celebrate with a Farewell Dinner. Late evening transfer to Ben Gurion airport for your
flight back to USA. (B, D) |
