Testimonials

Dear JTI,

Harold and I want to thank you again for our wonderful trip to Israel.

As Christians, it meant much to us to see this Holy Land, but it was also meaningful to see other cultures and beliefs.  We will never forget the sights and sounds, the tastes and smells.

The last four nights I have dreamed that I was still there [in Israel], so you can see, it really made an impression.

Pastor Harold and Jane Brown

Day 1 – Overnight Flight

Follow a timeline of the life of John Wesley in England. An exciting journey filled with history, natural beauty, art, architecture and warm local hospitality awaits you. Depart USA to London England.

Day 2 – London, England - Tour Begins

Your tour begins in London, where John began his formal schooling. Upon arrival into London, you will visit Windsor Castle, originally built to guard the city of London. The Castle has been the home of Kings and Queens for nine centuries and is the oldest royal residence still in use today. Explore the medieval St. George's Chapel, resting place of ten English sovereigns; Queen Mary's Doll House; a fine collection of master drawings; and nearly 23 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens.* This evening, join your fellow travelers for a welcome dinner at the hotel. (D)

Day 3 – London

Begin your day with a sightseeing tour of London with the touch of John Wesley, hosted by a local guide. You will view such highlights as the sites of Whitefield's Tabernacle and The Foundery Chapel, St. Luke's Church, St. Bartholomew the Great and Finsbury Square. Special visits will be made to City Road Chapel, which includes Wesley's Tomb, and St. Paul's Cathedral that John regarded as "his" parish church. Along the way, you will see other sights of this capital city: Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, and the changing of the guard (when held). Tonight, enjoy one of London’s spectacular theatre performances*. (B)

Day 4 – London - Oxford - Bath

Travel to the magnificent academic city of Oxford, seat of England's oldest university. Enjoy a walking tour and see where Wesley began his university studies at Christ Church College. Several years later, John became Fellow of Lincoln College and lectured on classics, logic and divinity. View Oxford Castle, the site of the prison where John visited the convicts. Continue your travels to Bath, an ancient Roman town where John Wesley preached. Visit the Roman Baths Museum to see the elaborate spas, valued since Roman times for their curative properties. (B, D)

Day 5 – Bath - Bristol - Sheffield - York

As you depart Bath you will view the Wesley Centre at the Kingswood School, which was founded by John
Wesley. Travel to the town of Bristol, where during the 18th century, John Wesley started preaching outdoors to the poor of the town. It was here that he built a chapel, now the oldest Methodist Chapel in the world, which you will visit. Also, tour the Charles Wesley House, the home of the great hymn writer and John's brother. Continue your journey to the town of Sheffield in Northern England. View Paradise Square, where John preached to the largest congregation in the open air, and Wesleyan Chapel opened by John Wesley himself. Later, you will arrive in the city of York. (B, D)

Day 6 – York - Epworth - London

This morning visit the magnificent 13th century Minster, thought by many to be one of the finest medieval cathedrals in all of Europe. View the York Central Methodist Church, a "Cathedral" for Methodism. Head south and stop in the town of Epworth, birthplace of John Wesley. Visit the Old Rectory*, the home of the Wesley family, the Parish Church with the tomb of Samuel Wesley and the Epworth Market Cross where John delivered rousing sermons. Continue to London and enjoy a special farewell dinner held with the fun and frolic of a Medieval Banquet. (B, D)
