Day 1- Enroute

Depart the USA on the way to Greece. Enjoy a hot dinner aboard the airplane.

Day 2
Athens, Greece

Upon arrival in Athens you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel. Balance of the day is at leisure. This evening enjoy a welcome dinner and overnight at your hotel in Athens.

Day 3
Athens, Greece

After breakfast, we will travel to the Peloponnesian Peninsula and the biblical town of Corinth. Corinth Canal links the Aegean and Ionian Seas. At Corinth, which was visited by Paul for 18 months (51-52 AD) and was reflected in his letters to the Corinthians, see the excavations, the Bema Seat, and the museum. Continue on to Cenchra, the eastern Roman seaport connecting (via land) the Aegean Sea and Corinthian Sea. Continue to Mycenae, and then see the beauty of Agamemnon’s Greece in the famous Gate of the Lions and the Acropolis. Return to Athens and visit the Acropolis, the Agora and other sights of this magnificent city. Dinner and overnight at your hotel in Athens.

Day 4
Mykonos, Greece

After breakfast, transfer to the Piraeus pier to board our cruise ship for 11:00 AM departure. Cruise includes all meals. Evening we spend in Mykonos. Cruise at night.

Day 5
Rhodes, Greece

We will spend the day in Rhodes (Greece) from 9:30am to 6:00pm. Home of Helios, God of the Sun. Rhodes is enchanting from its walled city to the Temple of Lindos overlooking the sea. Be sure to visit the Colossus of Rhodes, and Porte d’Amboise (Shore excursions during the cruise are on your own and might cost extra). Cruise at night.

Day 6
lzmir, Turkey

Morning we will be in Patmos (Greece) from 7:00am to 10:00am. Afternoon we arrive to Kusadasi. Upon disembarking from the cruise ship you will be transferred to your hotel in
Izmir. Dinner and overnight will be at your hotel.

Day 7
Izmir, Turkey

After breakfast, we will drive to Pergamun and visit the Greco-Roman city built on four rising terraces, the Acropolis, and Asclepion, the world’s first health center which was a hospital for mental patients with treatments and methods used in psychiatry today. We will continue to Akhisar and the Thyatira church, and return to Izmir for an orientation tour. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Day 8
Pamukkale, Turkey

We begin today with a drive to Sardis, capital city of the Lydian Kingdom, where Croesus reigned. Walk down the Marble Way past rows of Byzantine-era shops. Visit the restored Roman gymnasium, and the large synagogue from the 4th century, impressive of its size and decorations. Continue south to Philadelphia. After stopping for a visit to the church, we proceed to Pamukkale. Pamukkale, or “Cotton Castle,” is one of the natural wonders of the world. It is an ancient Greco-Roman city with water springs believed to have healing properties. The hot mineral waters burst out and flow through a ruined Hellenistic city before cascading over a cliff, creating dazzling white waterfalls of solidified calcium, forming many pools and icicles downward for about 300 feet. We will enjoy wandering among the many ruins, sarcophagi, and the travertines. We can also bath in the shallow mineral pools. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Day 9
Ephesus, Istanbul, Turkey

Today we drive west to Ephesus, stopping at Laodicea and Aphrodisias along the way. Visit Ephesus the ancient Roman center of commerce and culture during the 2nd century BC. This is one of the largest excavation sites in Turkey with many restored streets and buildings. Visit the library, the Basilica of St John, and Selcuk Ephesus Museum and the house of the Virgin Mary on top of the mountain overlooking the sea. We will drive to Izmir airport for our late evening flight to Istanbul. Upon arrival at Istanbul, at about 9:00 PM, you will be met and transferred to the hotel for overnight.

Day 10
Istanbul, Turkey

After breakfast, we will take a full day tour of this magnificent city. We will visit historical sites, starting with St. Sophia, the famous Blue Mosque and the Hippodrome. After lunch we will continue our visit to Topkapi Palace and the underground cistern. Evening will be free to explore the nightlife.

Day 11
Istanbul, Turkey

After breakfast, we will continue exploring the city of Istanbul. We start with St. Chora Church with its beautiful mosaics. Continue a visit to Spice Bazaar and take a leisurely boat ride along the Bosphorus Strait viewing the European and Asian shores of Istanbul. After lunch, we will drive to the Asian side of Istanbul through the Intercontinental Bosphorus Bridge and visit the Beylerbeyi Palace. Return to our hotel for a Farewell Banquet celebration. Overnight at our hotel in Istanbul

Day 12
Return to USA

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight back to the USA. Arrive back home.
